MTCC has formally submitted the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) for endorsement of the PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) on 28 March 2008.
The submission is part of an important measure to further strengthen and enhance the acceptance of the MTCS in the international market. The submission was made possible following measures taken to implement a new institutional arrangement for the MTCS where MTCC plays the role of the National Governing Body (NGB) for timber certification, with the Department of Standards Malaysia (Standards Malaysia) (the national accreditation body) as the Accreditation Body (AB) which accredits qualified companies or organizations as Certification Bodies (CBs), under the MTCS.
