MTCC is pleased to announce the Guidelines on the Application of Requirements for the Certification of Non-Timber Forest Products in MTCS ST 1002:2021 Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management. Approved by the MTCC Board of Trustees on 4 September 2023, this guideline is one of the aspirations of the MTCC Strategy 2020-2025 to include non-timber forest products (NTFP) in the scope of certification. The draft of this document was subjected to a 30-day public consultation period from 27 January to 26 February 2023 through Google Docs. A total of 44 comments and feedback were received during the public consultation period.
This Guidelines on the Application of Requirements for the Certification of Non-Timber Forest Products in MTCS ST 1002:2021 Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management is to be included within the scope of certification under MTCS. This document would be useful to assist users, particularly forest managers, in expanding the scope of products covered under the certification, allowing relevant forest-related stakeholders along the supply chain to benefit from the certification of all forest products, including NTFP originating from certified FMUs.
