MTCC's Response to COAC's Reply

Dear Dr. Nicholas,

Reference is made to your letter dated 10 November 2007 (2008?) regarding the above matter.
We stand by what we have stated in our earlier letter, which is aimed at providing clarification, including the relevant background information, with the view to present a more balanced picture with regard to the conduct of the field test of the draft MC&I(Forest Plantations) in Sabah, in response to the article by Ms. Puah.

We note your comments on the other developments, which are not related to the field test.  However, we do not think it is fair for you to blame MTCC for developments which are not within MTCC’s mandate and control.

MTCC will continue to place emphasis on positive engagement and participation of all relevant stakeholder groups as the way forward, especially in the development and review of certification standards used under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS).
We will reciprocate your action by providing visitors to our website a link to your letter.

Yours sincerely,
Yong Teng Koon
