EUDR-PEFC Sustainable Forest Management ST1003 Stakeholder Consultation

Kuala Lumpur, 2 July 2024: The Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) hosted a stakeholder consultation session yesterday, focusing on aligning the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) with the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) Standard ST 1003. The event featured opening remarks by MTCC CEO Dr Farrah Shameen Mohamad Ashray, setting the stage for a comprehensive briefing by Director (Forest Management) Dr Agkillah Maniam, who detailed the proposed modifications and their implications for the Malaysian context. This session was attended by ministries, government agencies, state forestry departments and industry players.

A public consultation has been launched by PEFC and is ongoing until 13 July 2024.
