The Fourth Meeting of the SRC was held on 18-20 February 2019 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and was attended by a total of 19 participants comprising Members, Alternate Members and Observers.
During the Meeting, the SRC considered the incorporation of the requirements of Principle 10 of MC&I Forest Plantation.v2 into the relevant Criteria and Indicators of Principles 1 to 9 of the new streamlined standard. The Meeting also considered and agreed to incorporate new requirements of the PEFC ST 1003:2018 Sustainable Forest Management – Requirementsinto the draft standard to ensure conformance to the PEFC Sustainability Benchmark which had been revised and approved by the PEFC General Assembly on 14 November 2018. The Meeting also reached consensus on an Enquiry Draft which shall be circulated for Public Consultation in 2019 along with the revised process and timelines for the review of MC&I(Natural Forest).
Members of the SRC participated in a field visit to Bornion Timber Sdn Bhd, a certified FMU under the MTCS on 21 February 2019. Besides being briefed on the operation of the FMU, Members of the SRC also visited sites planted with Laran (Neolamarckia cadamba) species.
