
The Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) is a leading organisation championing sustainable forest management practices. We seek a passionate, energetic, enthusiastic and goal-driven Director, Forest Management to join our mission.
In this dynamic role, you will be involved in the review of standards, procedures and guidelines related to the MTCS; communication with the stakeholder groups; conduct training programme on forest management and forest plantation management certification for Certification Bodies (CBs) and other related personnel; liasing with the MTCS-notified CBs and monitor forest management practices in Forest Management Units (FMUs) certified under the MTCS.

7 | Entry qualification | Minimum Bachelor in Forestry or other related areas such as Natural Resources Management, Ecology and Conservation, Environmental Sciences or Biological Sciences. Candidates with sound knowledge of sustainable forest management will be prioritised. |
8 | Language qualification and competency | Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bahasa Melayu, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Illustrator (AI Software), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), project management tools, and database management systems. Well-versed in industry standards and best practices, including ISO standards and certification processes, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement within organizational operations. Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Skilled in managing time, priorities, and resources to meet tight deadlines and organisational objectives. Possess strategic thinking skills, strong knowledge of sustainable forest management, exceptional leadership and communication abilities and a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement. A highly ethical and meticulous professional with a pleasant personality, who excels under pressure, is adept at networking, people person and thrives in people-centric environments. 9 | Experience | 1. Minimum ten (10) years of working experience in the forest management, certification, compliance & related field. 2. Experience in national or international forest certification, standards, policy making or forestry/ biodiversity policy, familiarity with the national forestry laws and intergovernmental relations within the forestry sector are plus points. 3. Experience in leading projects/ huge task that involves developing, drafting standards or forest management plans /equivalent is highly preferred.. |

11 | Responsibilities | 1. Leading, supervising and managing the Forest Management Unit. 2. Maintaining relationships with domestic and international clients, partners and other stakeholders such as the certificate holders, NGOs and others. 3. Lead discussions with PEFC on matters related to Forest Management Benchmark standard 4. Developing goals and initiatives to constantly improve the Forest Management Certification. 5. Leads the review of standard(s) and technical documents to ensure agreed standards align with the requirements of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Scheme (PEFC). 6. Monitor and evaluate the operation of sustainable forest management (SFM) certification to ensure the effective implementation of MTCS. 7. Engage stakeholders and technical experts in developing guideline(s) and appendices related to the standard(s) under the MTCS. 8. Coordinate with the accreditation body on the requirements for Certification Bodies (CBs) operating FMC under the MTCS including overseeing the collection of notification fees. 9. Support international agencies / other government agencies by providing inputs, feedback, briefings, and training regarding the sustainability agenda of MTCC. |
