PEFC ST 2102:2026 \u2013 PEFC Project Sourcing \u2013 Requirements<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>PEFC Project Sourcing provides an independent, third-party certification system that enables organisations to demonstrate that the forest and tree-based materials used within a specific project are responsibly sourced, traceable and supported by verifiable evidence.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var(--theme-font-size); font-style: var(--theme-font-style, inherit); font-variant-caps: inherit; letter-spacing: var(--theme-letter-spacing); text-transform: var(--theme-text-transform); text-decoration: var(--theme-text-decoration);\">This standard replaces Annex 1: Guidance for the implementation of PEFC Chain of Custody for specified projects of PEFC GD 2001:2014, Chain of Custody of Forest-Based Products \u2013 Guidance for Use, as of 4 June 2026. Annex 1 has been technically revised and developed into this stand-alone standard.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>The standard is designed to address the practical realities of construction and infrastructure projects, where multiple parties may be involved in the sourcing, processing and installation of forest and tree-based materials.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>PEFC Project Sourcing can be applied to a wide range of projects, including:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>commercial and residential developments;<\/li>\n<li>public buildings;<\/li>\n<li>transport and infrastructure projects;<\/li>\n<li>interior fit-outs;<\/li>\n<li>renovations and retrofits; and<\/li>\n<li>temporary structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The standard is particularly relevant to developers, architects, contractors, designers and specifiers seeking to demonstrate responsible sourcing of timber and other forest and tree-based materials in their projects.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>It also provides flexibility for projects involving multiple contractors and subcontractors. Subject to the requirements of the standard, non-certified subcontractors may participate within the sourcing system of a certified project, provided their activities are limited to the certified project site.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The standard may therefore be particularly relevant to projects using timber and engineered wood products such as cross-laminated timber (CLT), laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and glulam, where credible and verifiable sourcing information is increasingly important.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>PEFC Project Sourcing certification can also support green building, sustainable procurement and responsible sourcing objectives, helping to strengthen the link between sustainable forest management and the built environment.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Key benefits of PEFC Project Sourcing<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>PEFC Project Sourcing enables project organisations to:<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonstrate responsible sourcing of forest and tree-based materials at project level;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">provide traceability and verifiable evidence for materials used in a project;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">support sustainable procurement and green building requirements;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">increase confidence in responsible sourcing claims; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contribute to increasing the use of certified timber and other certified forest and tree-based materials in the construction sector.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5c27d4d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5c27d4d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2. PEFC IM 2103:2026 \u2013 Requirements for Certification Bodies<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>For Certification Bodies (CBs), MTCC has also adopted PEFC IM 2103:2026 \u2013 Additional Requirements for Certification Bodies Operating Certification against the PEFC Project Sourcing Standard.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>PEFC IM 2103:2026 provides scheme-specific requirements for CBs conducting certification against PEFC ST 2102:2026. These requirements are to be applied in addition to PEFC ST 2003 \u2013 Requirements for Certification Bodies Providing Certification against the PEFC International Chain of Custody Standard.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>CBs currently providing PEFC Chain of Custody certification may offer PEFC Project Sourcing certification under their existing Chain of Custody accreditation scope. No separate accreditation is required specifically for the PEFC Project Sourcing standard.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Qualification of CB personnel<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>PEFC-qualified Chain of Custody auditors, reviewers and certification decision-makers who intend to undertake PEFC Project Sourcing certification activities are required to:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>complete the dedicated PEFC Project Sourcing online training; and<\/li>\n<li>successfully pass the accompanying knowledge test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The training is available through the PEFC Knowledge Academy and consists of six e-learning modules followed by a knowledge test. The training is provided free of charge, with participants given 60 days to complete the course.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The training introduces the requirements of PEFC ST 2102:2026 and the additional considerations applicable to auditing construction and infrastructure projects.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>CBs are therefore encouraged to ensure that relevant personnel complete the required training and meet the applicable competence requirements before undertaking PEFC Project Sourcing certification activities.<\/div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9f832b7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9f832b7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3.
