New Standard for Forest Plantation Management Certification

The revised standard for forest plantation management certification, the MC&I Forest Plantation.V2 has been published and is available for download from the MTCC website.

The MC&I Forest Plantation.v2 replaces the MC&I (Forest Plantations) as the standard for forest plantation management certification with an application date of 1 July 2015 and will become mandatory on 1 January 2016.

The formulation of MC&I Forest Plantation.v2 was led by a 15-member multi-stakeholder Standards Review Committee (SRC) comprising representatives from the social (indigenous peoples and workers’ union), environmental and economic stakeholder groups, as well as the relevant government agencies from Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. The review process took two years to complete, which involved the conduct of a total of four meetings of the SRC, three public comments and three regional stakeholder consultations in Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur.

The MC&I Forest Plantation.v2 maintains the overall structure and content of the previous standard comprising 10 Principles, 55 Criteria and 108 Indicators.
